This large carved watermelon brown bone bead is from Kenya. This African earring is very distinct making it a very detailed piece. It consist of ocean blue Ashanti glass saucer beads that are unique to Africa. The Pulverized glass is poured into a clay mold, using a cassava stem for the bead's hole. The mold is placed in a furnace and heated until the glass particles congeal without actually melting and the stem burns out. The ocean blue Ashanti glass saucer bead is a Ghanaian piece. The Ethiopian white metal bicone beads within this earring are bold and versatile.
